Frequently Asked Questions
Do You Accept Insurance?
I am an out of network provider which means I do not accept insurance. Some insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits and will reimburse you for portions of the session. It is your responsibility to work with your insurance on that.
Payment is due at the end of each session
Do You Offer In-Person and Telehealth?
Both in-person and Telehealth sessions are available. My office is located on 4578 South Highland Drive in Millcreek, Utah
Do You Provide Therapy Throughout the US?
Currently I only provide therapy in Utah. The Social Work Interstate Licensure Compact is working to make therapy more accessible and once it is passed I will be able to provide therapy in more states. You can follow there progress here: https://swcompact.org
Am I a Good Fit
Short answer, call me and let's see!
I have seen clients from varying backgrounds. I have worked with displaced persons from 10+ countries, US citizens, men and women, adults and teenagers, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people of various religions and those who aren't religious. I have had interpreters attend sessions with clients and worked with clients who have ongoing court cases. Although I may not have had your world experience, I can be a good fit.
How Does Therapy Start?
If you would like to do a consultation, we can do a free 20 minutes phone call. Simply email me at jacob@healingandhopeutah.com or text me at 801-747-9247 to schedule.
Here is what to expect during a consultation call:
1) We will discuss what is bringing you to therapy
2) I will ask you what you expect of me as a therapist
3) I will tell you more about myself and my approach as a therapist
4) You can ask me any questions that I didn't cover
If we both decide I am a good fit, I will send you some electronic forms to sign and we will schedule our next session. During our first session or two, we will go over what is called a bio-psycho-social intake. I will get more of your background, we will set goals together, and make a plan for upcoming sessions.
